How to reach the conference

The AIUCD conference is held at the Sa Duchessa campus, central building, home of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Cagliari (Via Is Mirrionis, 1 – 09127 Cagliari CA).

By Plane

The nearest airport is Cagliari-Elmas Airport (CAG), named after Mario Mameli, located about 7 km from the city center.

  • Train: The airport is directly connected to the city via a rail service operated by Trenitalia.
    • Trains depart regularly from the airport railway station (located a few minutes’ walk from the arrivals area) and arrive at Cagliari Central Station (Piazza Matteotti).
    • The journey time is approximately 5-10 minutes.
  • Taxi/Rental: Taxi and car rental services are available directly at the airport exit.
  • Shuttle Bus: There are also shuttle bus services connecting the airport to the center.

By Train

The main station is Cagliari Central Station in Piazza Matteotti, connected to the main cities of Sardinia (such as Sassari, Olbia, Oristano) via the Trenitalia railway network. Once arrived at the Central Station, the Sa Duchessa campus is easily reachable:

  • On foot: About 30 minutes walking.
  • By CTM public transport: Several bus lines stop nearby. From the Station, we recommend using lines 5 or 8.

By Bus (Urban Public Transport – CTM)

The Sa Duchessa campus is well served by the CTM local public transport network.

  • Nearest stops: Check the lines transiting through Via Is Mirrionis and neighboring streets. Lines stopping nearby typically include the following (check updated timetables and routes on the CTM website):
    • Line 3, Line 5 and Line 8 (check direction)
    • Line 10 (circular)

Note: It is advisable to consult the official CTM website or dedicated apps for the most precise timetables and stops based on the departure point.

By Ship

For those arriving in Sardinia by sea, the Port of Cagliari is located in the immediate vicinity of the city center.

  • The main maritime connections arrive at and depart from the port, managed by various shipping companies connecting Cagliari with the Italian peninsula (e.g., Civitavecchia, Naples, Palermo).
  • From the port, the Sa Duchessa campus is reachable in a few minutes:
    • By bus: About 15 minutes (line 5).
    • Taxi: Taxi service available at the port area.
